Terrific Treehouses
Local designers were invited to let their imaginations run wild and create their own vision of a treehouse for the San Antonio Botanical Garden's Terrific Treehouses exhibit. Nine incredibly creative designs will be on display, from August 30 through December 7 throughout the gardens. This inspiring installation is for the young at heart, no matter what age.
Each treehouse design is unique; the designs range from a magic rocketship treehouse to a feng shui-inspired garden to a whimsical “flower fort” to hinged bamboo panels that can be changed as guests walk through the installation.
Texas Public Radio contributed to the exhibit by partnering with the Metropolitan Partnership for Energy and the U.S. Green Building Council to construct a backyard oasis made entirely out of sustainable materials.
Dubbed "Our Green Treehouse," our creation captures the imagination of childhood and sets an example for an environmentally-friendly future. Draped in airy green canvas sails, this open-air backyard retreat is made entirely of sustainable materials and demonstrates the how simple it is to capture rain to water plants. The treehouse is also equipped with a solar panel to harnesses renewable, clean energy to power the LED fixtures that illuminate the space at nighttime.
Texas Public Radio will auction off our treehouse creation in December when the exhibit closes. Be sure to listen for more details. |
