Silver Solutions 2016 Senior Resource Fair

Texas Public Radio's "Silver Solutions" is a free event spotlighting programs and services provided by institutions that support San Antonio seniors and their caregivers. This year's event will take place on Thursday, May 19 from 9am-2pm at TriPoint, 3233 N. St. Mary's.  

StoryCorps Listening Event To Feature Military Voices

While the StoryCorps Mobile booth is in town, we invite you to join us at the San Antonio Central Library on Thursday, February 25 for a special Listening Party event, celebrating StoryCorps’ Military Voices Initiative. Join us in the Central Library’s auditorium at 7 p.m. that evening to hear a selection of hand-picked stories and see some of the animated shorts based on StoryCorps audio, all with a military theme.

Dear Friends,

Today’s letter is, in part, an early Valentine for a very special group of people. While we sincerely appreciate every one of our listeners and supporters, we have a special place in our hearts for these folks – the more than 300 folks who volunteer their time to TPR.


After 50 years of serving the Alamo City, San Antonio College’s planetarium was renovated and reopened in 2014 as the Scobee Education Center, named after Dick Scobee who died in NASA’s Challenger accident.

A group of researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio have developed a way to deliver nanoparticle radiation directly to the brain tumor and keep it there. The method doses the tumor itself with much higher levels of radiation, twenty to thirty times the current dose of radiation therapy to patients, but spares a much greater area of brain tissue.
