Each year, the San Antonio Symphony leads the city in a musical celebration of a composer, focusing attention on an important body of work. This year, instead of a composer, Music Director Sebastian Lang-Lessing is looking to “Las Americas.” From the streets of New York to the salons of Argentina, the San Antonio Symphony and several other musical groups will immerse you in the music of our hemisphere this winter.

Dear Friends,

One of the things I love about this time of year is watching old movies while making holiday preparations, and one that I particularly look forward to is “White Christmas.” My favorite scene is when Bing Crosby sings to Rosemary Clooney about what he does when he can’t sleep – “I count my blessings instead of sheep, and I fall asleep counting my blessings.”  Good advice for all of us, don’t you think?

Texas Public Radio celebrates the season this month with programming to get you into the spirit.

On KPAC 88.3 FM, holiday music will be broadcast throughout the day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Beginning at 3 p.m. on KPAC 88.3 FM, we'll broadcast "A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols." The annual Christmas Eve service held in King's College Chapel was introduced in 1918 to bring a more imaginative approach to worship. It was first broadcast in 1928 and is now broadcast to millions of people around the world.
