A Message from Our President

Mar 24, 2016

Dear Friends,

As I was out and about this morning, I was surprised by how chilly the wind was. Since coming to TPR after my stint at NPR in Washington, D.C., I’ve gotten spoiled to how warm it is here. And it’s not just the weather that’s warm – the people here are amazingly warm and welcoming. And the opportunity to connect with the people who care about TPR and appreciate what it brings into their lives is what makes me (dare I say it?) enjoy our pledge drives.

On Thursday, April 21, the Cibolo Nature Center presents its Environmental Stewardship Awards. Ecologist and bat conservationist Merlin Tuttle will be the keynote speaker, TPR members can receive a special discount to the event itself, and are also invited to a pre-event reception featuring Freetail Brewing Co. beer, wine from Kerrville Hills Winery, and light snacks courtesy of Cibolo Nature Center.

Each year, we say thank you to businesses and professional members and community partners that support TPR throughout the course of the year with the Annual Salute to Business Supporters event. Held March 10 at Los Patios, approximately 325 TPR Business members, underwriters, and community partners turned up, in spite of the weather.  TPR's business, professional, and community partners help us bring public radio to San Antonio, the Hill Country, and surrounding areas.

For years, TPR fans (not the least of whom is our own Joey Palacios) have asked for a Texas Public Radio-themed Fiesta medal, and this year, we’re proud to unveil our first one ever! The medal features our signature purple-shaded ribbon with the words “hear yourself think” on the medal itself.
