Day sponsorship is another way for members to show support for your public radio station while acknowledging a special day for a friend, a colleague or a loved one. Messages are intended to honor an individual, and may be purchased by another individual, a nonprofit or a business.
Sponsored messages will air five times on the scheduled day plus one bonus message. The sponsorship package costs $250 per station and includes five messages and an mp3 audio file. Broadcast times are 6:59 am, 9:59 am, 12:59 pm, 3:59 pm, 6:59 pm and 9:59 pm.
"Today's programming sponsored in part by Doe Enterprises, acknowledging John Doe, founder and innovator, on his 100th birthday."
"Today's programming sponsored in part by John Doe, wishing a happy anniversary to Jane, his wife, companion, best friend and wise advisor--from her loving husband"
"Today's programming sponsored in part by John Doe in memory of his mother, Jane, whose love of classical music filled her days."
- Breaking news, special coverage or technical difficulty may preempt a message. If five of the six messages air, the sponsorship will be considered complete.
- There is no fair market value for day sponsorships. The entire amount of your contribution may be tax deductible. Please consult your financial advisor.
- Messages must be personal in nature and may not include political content, promotional or controversial language or contact information.
- All messages are subject to editing for length, format and compliance with FCC guidelines.
- Sponsorships must be submitted at least two weeks before the desired air date.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is a Day Sponsorship?
Day sponsorship is yet another way to support your public radio station while also and acknowledging a friend, colleague, or loved one for their special day -- birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, bar mitzvahs, christenings, or any special occasion.
Day sponsorship on any of the stations in the TPR family -- KSTX, KPAC,KTXI, KVHL, KTPR -- is available for $250 and includes a personalized message aired at fixed times of the day. The message will air on the date of their choice providing that no other day sponsorship has been purchased for that date. An mp3 of the message will accompany the payment confirmation of your day sponsorship.
How do I become eligible for a day sponsorship?
You must be a current TPR member to participate. If you have a specific date in mind, we strongly encourage you to contact us as early as possible to ensure we can reserve that date for you. Contact Stephen Custer at 800-622-8977 ext. 132 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
How many times will my message be announced on the air?
Your day sponsorship package includes five messages (plus one bonus) to be aired at 6:59 a.m., 9:59 a.m., 12:59 p.m., 3:59 p.m., 6:59 p.m. and 9:59 p.m. Because this is live radio, we are offering the bonus message at no charge to make-up for human error, the fact that the president may speak and interrupt regular programming, or a test of the EAS system could preempt a message. This is why we are pricing the sponsorship for five messages and giving the sixth as a bonus.
How much notice do you require to get my message on the air?
We require a minimum of two weeks notice so that we have time to get your message approved, produced and scheduled.
How long can my day sponsorship message be?
Day sponsorship messages must fit within our guidelines and the template below. All messages are under ten seconds in length.
Can I make an anonymous day sponsorship?
No. TPR’s policy states that the person or persons making the donation must agree to have their first and last name read on the air.
Can a day sponsorship be used to commemorate the opening of a business?
Day sponsorships must be personal, non-commercial and non-promotional in nature. Therefore we cannot use a day sponsorship to announce times, dates or locations of any event.
Can a business buy a day sponsorship?
Occasionally, a nonprofit or a business may air a message in recognition of a special teacher or member of the staff, such as:
"Today's programming sponsored in part by Solar San Antonio, honoring their founder Bill Sinkin as he celebrates his 100th birthday and 36,500 revolutions around the sun."
If you would like to announce specific information about an organization or event on the air, we also cannot list web addresses or phone numbers in day sponsorship messages. Please contact Kellie Fichter in our Underwriting Department at 210 614-8977, ext. 117.
How will I know what times my message will be on the air?
Once we have received your message and your day sponsorship has been scheduled, our Corporate Relations Assistant will contact you to confirm the payment and forward a recording of your message in an mp3 file. Please make sure you give an email address or a day-time phone number when you submit your message so we have a way to contact you. Please feel free to contact us if you have any specific questions.
Can you make sure my message is broadcast during my favorite show?
The times day sponsorships are broadcast are set well in advance and generally we do not have such flexibility.
Does a day sponsorship have a fair market value?
No. Day sponsorships do not have a fair market value and therefore do not affect tax deductibility of your contribution.
Who has final approval of what can be broadcast on the air?
Our senior director of development has the final approval of the text on all day sponsorship messages.
