Boerne http://tpr.org en Explore Local History On A Hill Country Magical History Tour http://tpr.org/post/explore-local-history-hill-country-magical-history-tour
It’s a program created by the Patrick Heath Public Library in Boerne and it’s got a very retro feel. Hearkening back to the Beatles album, it's called the Magical History Tour.

“What we are trying to do is to introduce our patrons, and anyone else who’s interested, to the history of the region," said Heath librarian Robin Stauber. To do so they’ve created these tours, and Stauber said they have gone all over the place.

“We’ve been to New Braunfels, we’ve been to Bandera, we’ve been to Castroville, we've been into San Antonio to do some things there,” Stauber said.
Tue, 08 Jul 2014 21:03:38 +0000 Jack Morgan 34721 at http://tpr.org Explore Local History On A Hill Country Magical History Tour Alamo Area MPO Gathering Traffic Input From Boerne, New Braunfels, Other Newly Added Areas http://tpr.org/post/alamo-area-mpo-gathering-traffic-input-boerne-new-braunfels-other-newly-added-areas

The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is working this week with residents in its expanded metro area outside San Antonio to come up with a regional transportation and traffic safety plan for the next 25 years.
Tue, 17 Jun 2014 14:40:50 +0000 Eileen Pace 33536 at http://tpr.org Alamo Area MPO Gathering Traffic Input From Boerne, New Braunfels, Other Newly Added Areas Patriotic Concert Honors Veterans At Cave Without A Name http://tpr.org/post/patriotic-concert-honors-veterans-cave-without-name
It’s a Fourth of July celebration that’s not actually happening on the fourth. We’re even going to do some patriotic songs because it’s good to be a Texan."
Mon, 16 Jun 2014 18:17:10 +0000 Jack Morgan 33489 at http://tpr.org Patriotic Concert Honors Veterans At Cave Without A Name Second Boerne Art Waddle Is This Saturday http://tpr.org/post/second-boerne-art-waddle-saturday
The idea isn’t a completely original one, but as is often the case, Boerne puts its own spin on it. It's called the "Art Waddle" and Boerne’s Mary Morton came up with it.

“My husband and I have gone on outings to other art walks throughout San Antonio and we’ve just enjoyed it tremendously and had gotten to know a neighborhood that we had never been to before. So that’s what we decided to do, and last year was our first year," Morton said.

“Now, you didn’t call it an 'art walk,' you called it an 'art waddle.' What’s the deal with that?" I asked.
Wed, 14 May 2014 17:28:02 +0000 Jack Morgan 31683 at http://tpr.org Second Boerne Art Waddle Is This Saturday Dancing Under The Moon At The Cibolo Nature Center In Boerne http://tpr.org/post/dancing-under-moon-cibolo-nature-center-boerne
It’s called Moondance, and as I found out, the title is exacting in its description. So what the heck is a Moondance?

"Oh gosh, it’s an excellent opportunity to get outside and kick up your heels and do some dancing underneath the moonlight," said Cibolo Nature Center Director of Operations Doris Perez. And that’s where the Moondance happens—at the Cibolo.
Thu, 24 Apr 2014 21:07:43 +0000 Jack Morgan 30628 at http://tpr.org Dancing Under The Moon At The Cibolo Nature Center In Boerne Boerne's New Sculpture Space Is Part Garden, Part Gallery http://tpr.org/post/boernes-new-sculpture-space-part-garden-part-gallery
I was driving recently in Boerne, and came up to a stop sign at Plant Street and River Road. Movement on my peripheral vision made me turn and look.

“Those are kinetic wind sculptures," said Johny Rosa, who knows them well because he put them there. And he knows the artist.

“His name is Jim LaPaso. He makes every one of those sculptures by hand,” Rosa said.

I had discovered, by accident, Boerne’s new sculpture garden. De Pue said all the members attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.

“And we met there and jammed together outside of our classical studies and training," he said.
