Davis Talks "Investing" At San Antonio Campaign Stop

Gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis toured Rackspace Cloud Computing and told employees that Texas needs a change.

Wendy Davis, the Texas senator who gained national attention with her filibuster against restrictive abortion laws, stopped in San Antonio just days after announcing her bid for governor.

And it may be no surprise that the Alamo City is on her list.

"San Antonio, of course, has an incredible story to tell about how much it values education, how much it values public-private partnerships that keep our economy strong," Davis said. "It's a shining example of what we want to see happening all over the state of Texas and it's one of the reasons that I'm running for governor."

Opera Piccola Moves Downtown To The Empire For New Season

Opera Piccola's season starts with a few surprises and amongst those is a big one: Moving into downtown’s Charline McCombs Empire theater.

"It only seats 800 people," said General Director Mark Richter, "so no matter where you sit in the Empire Theater, it’s a tremendous seat."

They’ve also begun positioning the company in a way unlike what many people think when they think of opera.

Davis' "A Texas Story" Video Her First Step In Statewide Campaign

Wendy Davis’ campaign brought in over $500,000 in contributions in less than 24 hours after her announcement that she would run for governor and the Democrat from Fort Worth has now launched her first campaign video.

"A Texas Story" starts with a biography of Davis’ life and features her daughter Amber, who details her mother’s humble beginnings.

San Antonio Symphony Adds More Moving Parts

The San Antonio Symphony debuted its new season last weekend and Musical Director and sometimes Conductor Sebastian Lang-Lessing predicts a lot of sizzle for their Friday and Saturday night performances at the Majestic.

"It’s going to be a very exciting performance for me," he said. "Schumann is something  that’s very personal for me. I’m very close to his music. I’ve recorded all of his symphonies and always feature him when I can."

Lang-Lessing is also looking forward to playing Rachmaninoff’s "Symphonic Dances."

Local Delegation Hopeful Spain Will Move More Business To San Antonio

About 20 local business leaders have  lot to look forward to after their business-development trip to Spain in September. Some of Spain’s business owners came away from the conferences with a desire to visit companies in San Antonio.

Jose Manual Soria Lopez, the Spanish minister of industry, energy and tourism, met with members of the San Antonio delegation and told the group he wanted to get a group of his country’s businesses leaders to come to San Antonio next year.
