Musica Antiqua Live, Sunday 11/25

San Antonio's two period-instrument early music ensembles will join forces to present a concert that traces the evolution of musical styles from the Renaissance to the Baroque. Ensemble Cazona performs on copies of Renaissance-era recorders. Retablo will perform music of the 18th century using Baroque recorder and traverso with viola da gamba, harpsichord, and theorbo. This concert will take place at 3:00 on Sunday, November 25, in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word on the campus of Incarnate Word University located at 4301 Broadway. This event is free and open to the public.

Texas Workforce Commission Helping Veterans Find Job Opportunities

Hundreds of veterans filled the Freeman Coliseum’s Expo Hall this week looking for work. The Texas Workforce Commission held a job fair specially tailored to those converting military experience into civilian jobs.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, veterans who have served since 9/11 are experiencing an unemployment rate of 10 percent, slightly higher than the civilian rate.

The Texas Workforce Commission is actively trying to get these veterans back into work.

San Antonio’s bike share program is expanding into the South Side with several new B-cycle kiosks around the Missions.

Cyclists rode to Mission San Jose to illustrate the new availability of B-cycle just south of downtown; six new stations have been added at some of San Antonio’s Mission’s along the Mission Reach.

Air Force officials are processing evidence from an Article 32 hearing against another Military Training Instructor at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

The government is seeking to charge Staff Sgt. Donald Davis with aggravated sexual contact with a trainee, and with having a sexual relationship with a second.

During a recent tour of district 6, Councilman Ray Lopez stopped by several homes where volunteers were helping Rebuilding Together San Antonio, a local non-profit. Disabled and impoverished residents qualify for the work because they can’t do it themselves, and the organization attempts to work on 10 houses each year.

“I think we all recognize that there is a lot of work to be done in this community,” Lopez said to them.

Mystery At The Alamo: Texas Declaration Of Independence Reported Missing

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas are responding to the bizarre incident that called San Antonio Police to the shrine Thursday morning. DRT President Karen Thompson said there will be a full investigation; the Texas Declaration of Independence is apparently missing from the Alamo.

Following a report that artifacts were missing, Thompson assured people there would be a formal inquiry and the DRT would fully cooperate with law enforcement officials.

The composer asks for double fortes, throws in unexpected rests, and invents the heroic funeral movement that he would exploit in future symphonies. This is all in the third sonata in D Major.
