Another Air Force instructor under investigation is headed to an Article 32 hearing at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland this morning.

Staff Sgt. Eddy Soto of the 323rd Training Squadron is accused of rape and sexual assault in the case of one former trainee and of sexual assault against another. He also is accused of lying to officials and committing adultery, violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Southwest ISD graduated just under 600 students in 2010, but this year the district has grown by 600 students.

"We normally, for the first ten years, saw between 2.75 percent to about 4 percent," said SWISD Superintendent Dr. Lloyd Verstuyft, but he also said enrollment has spiked over the last couple of years, increasing to six percent over time.

South Side residents got some relief from flooding and from some of the related construction as officials announced the completion of the first section of the Sixmile Creek Flood Control Project.

The project is part of Bexar County’s $500 million capital improvement campaign, and the first section to open cost $2.7 million.

San Antonio is one the few major cities in the country without a dedicated LGBTQ community center. While there were several attempts in the past, a collective of community members is laying the ground work to establish a new one.

The Pride Center San Antonio doesn’t have a dedicated space yet, but the people behind its creation want it to be a connector for the gay community.

Millions of people on the East Coast remain without power today as Superstorm Sandy barrels into the United States. To help restore electricity, CPS Energy is sending some of its own emergency response crews.

Students in the San Antonio and Judson Independent School Districts are on notice that warrants could be issued if they have been skipping school. Parents and kids have just two weeks to clear up any truancy issues before pick-up orders are activated.

Judge Rogelio Lopez of the Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace court said he sees hundreds of students from Judson and SAISD each year, and students missing school has a dramatic effect on the drop-out rate.

October is Cyber Security Awareness month, and to reach out to the community, UTSA’s Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security offered a month-long program to educate people who use computers at home, businesses and organizations.

The community seminars are in plain, non-technical language, stressing current issues and solutions.
