A Catholic-supported group has been able to raise enough private funds to have a Nativity scene on display inside the Texas State Capitol, the week before Christmas. And the Texas Nativity Scene Project, the group that put this together, said the presence of the manger scene in the Capitol building is a win for those trying to keep the “Christ in Christmas.”

It’s a combination of a fascinating setting and a unique concert. That fascinating setting is called Villa Finale.

“Villa Finale is the only National Historic Trust Site in Texas.”

Meet Villa Finale’s Sylvia Gonzalez.

“It’s located in the King William National Historic District, and was the last home of Walter Nold Mathis, who is credited with being the catalyst for revitalization of the King William Historic neighborhood.”

You’ve got a really interesting concert coming along on Thursday; tell us about that.

The Youth Orchestras of San Antonio have an interesting performance scheduled for Sunday, and it’s got a heck of a name.

“YOSAPalooza is a concert with more than 400 musicians.”

Troy Peters is YOSA’s Music Director.

“All of the different levels of the YOSA experience, share in one concert at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.”

I also spoke to YOSA member Victoria Acuna.

“I play violin. I’m in the YOSA Philharmonic; I’m in my third year.”

When you think back on those three years with YOSA — do you have a favorite experience?

This year more than 52 million cars were recalled. This means that one in five cars being driven today have had a recall. Toyota, Chrysler, General Motors--and the list goes on--have helped smash the record for recalled vehicles in a year.

They're about to make some great holiday music, but it’s a group of decidedly younger musicians than most. They’re the Hill Country Youth Orchestras and their Executive Director is Matt Evans.

“We have about a 142 kids this year. And the coolest thing about all that is that all the kids attend and participate free of any registration cost.”

Evans said the nonprofit raises all costs through grants and community donors.
