The San Fernando Cathedral is one of the city’s oldest and most distinctive buildings and over several centuries, these walls of stone have reverberated with the sound of the faithful. On Nov. 9, they will reflect the sound of two talented musicians, in a very special concert.

As Texans head to the polls on Tuesday there will be many choices to make, issues to weigh and candidates to consider. But is the gender of the candidate a factor in Texas elections?

A first-of-its-kind data set reveals that Texas is among the worst in the country in the number of women represented in elected positions, ranking number 46 out of 50 states.

But are Texans less likely to vote for women candidates? Or are women candidates less likely to run for office?

Casting his ballot ahead of Tuesday’s election, Republican Gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott remains confident about his chances amongst likely Hispanic voters. Abbott predicts his campaign will win a majority of votes throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

The lines for early voting were longer than in 2010, including for the Republican candidate for governor, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who waited to cast a ballot for himself before the last day of early voting.
