The Choir of St. Luke's Episcopal Church will present their last "Choral Evensong" this season Sunday afternoon at 4:30pm. The concert will feature the world premiere of the St. Luke's Canticles by Craig Phillips. It was commissioned by the parish and the Friends of Music for the Parish Choir for this concert, and later tour of the United Kingdom. Dr. Phillips will be present for the premiere, and more choral works of Phillips will be presented in the Service as well.
South Carolina is still dealing with the ramifications of a month-long cyber incursion at their Department of Revenue last fall that saw millions of of citizens' banking information, social security numbers and other vital information stolen, costing the state $20 million so far.
Texas also has security holes. In a report to the state Department of Information Resources, the state's Cybersecurity, Education, and Economic Development Council presented a number of recommendations to improve the state's cyber infrastructure.
UTSA on Monday announced it is raising the goal for the university’s capital campaign.
UTSA launched its Top-Tier Campaign a year ago with a goal of raising $120 million. To date, the campaign has provided funding for 35 new scholarships, 26 new endowed faculty positions, and nine new research centers.
The campaign hit its target last month, or in about one-third the time the school had allotted.
Peter Sagal rides a motorcycle for freedom...sort of. Sagal, host of "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me," has a new project that has him sporting a red, white and blue motorcycle and digging into the Constitution.
From scholars and school teachers to the average Joe, Sagal is interested in finding out why the constitution still matters, how it works and how it doesn't work.
This week the Detroit Symphony Orchestra performs two different programs at Carnegie Hall. Leonard Slatkin, their music director, is happy to be part of the Spring For Music festival. "More than any composer I can think of, you span not only his musical growth, but literally the coming of age of American music with these four [Ives] symphonies."
