A new exhibit at the McNay Art Museum reveals the important role of costumes and design in a stage production's acting and set.

McNay Art Museum Director William Chiego introduces us to their new exhibition, Onstage! Costume Design and the Theatre, which runs now through Jan. 5, 2014.

"Onstage is a wonderful demonstration of some of the leading costume designers that are represented in the Tobin collection, and it shows how costume design was translated into the actual work for the stage," Chiego said.

Shareholders Have Split Reaction To Michael Dell Buyout

Those with stock in Austin-based computer company Dell met in Round Rock on Thursday to discuss and vote on allowing it’s founder to once again become the company owner and take the company private. 

Michael Dell will pay $13.75 a share to give him over 55 percent control of the company, in a buyout that will cost a total of $24.9 billion.

San Antonio Military Health System Celebrates First-Ever Change Of Authority

Joint Base Fort Sam Houston saw an historic change of authority ceremony for its combined health care facilities this week.

The San Antonio Military Health System, formed two years ago under Joint Base realignment, celebrated the installation of its new director Thursday.

The San Antonio Military Health System includes San Antonio Military Medical Center and Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center. It was formed Sept. 15, 2011, as a way for the military in San Antonio to increase efficiencies.

SAMM Ministries Celebrates 30 Years Of Serving Homeless & Struggling Families

On Thursday SAMM Ministries celebrated its 30th year of serving San Antonio families who need a little help to get back on their feet.

The ministry also announced a major fundraising campaign. The new Help, Hope and Home fundraising campaign seeks to raise $8 million dollars over three years.

According to SAMM CEO Navarra Williams, children are the most severely impacted by homelessness.

"Homeless children are twice as likely to be hungry, develop a laundry list of illnesses, and get behind in school and reading skills," he said.

City Budget Shakeup Reveals Some Wins, Some Losses

San Antonio city leaders swept through a $2.3 billion budget amid negotiations in the final hour that added line items back in that previously had been eliminated.

With the majority of the city council favoring the amendments, and the 2014 budget as proposed, residents will begin seeing some of the effects.

Dedicated practitioners of gurning have actually had dental extractions to help them in this rural English—I hesitate to say—sport, but that is how participants view it. Bexar County Bibliotech Goes Live This Weekend

The Bexar County Bibliotech is gearing up for its big opening this weekend and staff have been working on community outreach throughout the week to get the word out about the only fully-digital library in the U.S.

The new Bibliotech digital library encourages kids to play video games and the game tables in the children’s room offer space for more than one child to piece together insect parts and play other educational games.

Perry In Dallas To Talk Oil & Gas Growth

Gov. Rick Perry is joining oil, gas, economic, finance and energy experts in Dallas today for an energy conference to discuss ways America can continue its growth in oil and gas.

The goal of the conference, which is being hosted by the George W. Bush Institute, is:

"To determine the cost that misguided regulation imposes on growth and to suggest more sensible policies that could benefit America."

Josh Havens is with the governor’s office and said Perry's main talking point will be about how Texas achieved energy growth.

San Antonio Mastersingers Set To Begin New Season

The San Antonio Mastersingers open next month celebrating their 70th season performing with the San Antonio Symphony with a performance of Symphonic Dances on Oct. 11 & 12 .

"We begin the season with the symphony performing 'Miriam's Song of Triumph' by Franz Schubert Oct. 11 and 12 at the Majestic, and then we quickly go into the holiday season," says Mastersinger and board member Chancey Blackburn. "We have four performances this year of Handel's 'Messiah' and we're also performing the Holiday Pops."
