Ted Cruz is in Texas, campaigning hard to raise money this week. Scott Walker was in San Antonio yesterday hoping to bone up on his Lone Star numbers. Rick Perry may not make it out of the state.

Texas has connections with more than a third of the GOP presidential field and the ones that will make to Super Tuesday, sure do want to win it.

What is the state of the current field of Presidential candidates?

An abortion rights group representing clinics in Texas has petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to take up its lawsuit against the state's admitting privileges and ambulatory surgical center laws.  Nancy Northup with the Center for Reproductive Rights said it’s clear the state’s 2013 law was intended to close clinics.

In March, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas sued the state of Texas' General Land Office over the contents of the Alamo Library–now the Alamo Research Center.

The Daughters contend they own most of the more than 30,000 items in its collection. The lawsuit came shortly after Land Commissioner George P. Bush ended the contract of the Daughters as managers of the Alamo.

Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau says a second video of deputies fatally shooting a man whose hands were raised appears to show him carrying what investigators believe was a knife.

Pamerleau told reporters at a Wednesday news conference that the video has been forwarded to the state crime lab to see if the footage can be blown up and slowed down. She says investigators believe 41-year-old Gilbert Flores was holding a knife when he raised both arms.

After reviewing footage of a man shot to death by Bexar Country sheriff deputies, Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau says it’s hard to dispute the man’s hands were in the air when he was shot.

When Sheriff’s deputies arrived at Gilbert Flores’ home, based on his behavior, officers believed Flores had intended to have deputies shoot him, as indicated by 911 audio between dispatchers and emergency responders:

Bexar County Dispatcher:  “Yeah that is affirmative, he’s threatening suicide by cop, so make sure you stand down.”
