Bexar County is seeing a record turnout of early voters in this year’s general election. Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen says 35,341 people cast ballots on Monday. That’s almost 5,000 more than turned out on the first day of early voting in 2012. The Brook Hollow Library, one of 43 polling sites, saw the largest turnout with more than 1,400 people casting ballots.
If you want to avoid long lines Callanen says there are locations that haven’t been as busy as others.
“We have added Palo Alto College, and that site was low. Alamo Stadium Convocation Center was one that saw a much lower turnout. We saw a much lower turnout at San Antonio Community College, at Somerset ISD, South San admin building, South Side admin building,” Short says.
She says all of these locations had less than 500 voters turnout on the first day of early voting.
Remember, if you don’t have a Photo ID, you can still vote. You can bring your valid voter registration certificate or other documents, like a bank statement or utility bill.
