The Oscars take place this Sunday, but in Boerne, a sold-out house got a musical sampling of Hollywood’s finest on Saturday, February 6. That night, Boerne Performing Artspresented the Hollywood Concert Orchestra’s program “A Night at the Oscars,” featuring the greatest hits of 75 years of film.

As the nattily-dressed crowd entered Boerne Champion High School Auditorium, young actors from the Boerne Community Theatre portrayed Hollywood stars of yore like Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, and Shirley Temple.

Conductor Dennis Assaf kept the evening’s tempo brisk, leading the 30-piece orchestra through twenty themes over the two-hour program, and breezily interacting with the audience from the podium. See one of the musical highlights in the video below!

This concert will be broadcast in its entirety on TPR's Performance Saturday on February 27 at 7 p.m. on KPAC 88.3 FM and KTXI 90.1 FM.
