Boerne Neighborhood's Artful Walk

It's the area's art  event with perhaps the oddest title.  It's called the Boerne Art Waddle. That's waddle, as in ducks.

"The reason it's called the Waddle's because we're on the Cibolo Creek and sometimes you can see ducks walking in the neighborhood."

Mary Morton's talking about Boerne's downtown offshoot called The Flats. And the Art Waddle is an art show scattered through that neighborhood.

"It's about a mile all the way around. Not very long. You can bring your bike and ride it, or you can walk it. We have 15 neighbors that are hosting in their front yards or their back yards, local artists.   We have this year 50 plus artists."

By local she means Boerne, San Antonio, New Braunfels and Bandera. Waddling through all that art might generate some hunger.

"We have one local gentleman who's the hot dog guy and he will be at the No. 1 house. Some of the artists will have refreshments and lemonade and spirits of sorts."

That's this Saturday in Boerne from 10 a.m. 'til 4p.m. To find it, go to the town square, cross the bridge on Cibolo Creek and you're there.

"It's a laid back sort of situation where everyone just sorta walks and talks and visits.  It's just going to be a fun afternoon, an enjoyable afternoon."
