As our Camp KPAC project continues, students got a first-hand look at recording techniques and fine musicianship today. Jillian Kouzel of MacArthur High School writes:
Picking up from where we left off on day one, with a tour of the studio, brief introduction to audio and editing, and insight to interviews, we all came back even more eager and excited to learn for day two! Predominantly, today was designated for young artists and muscians to record their pieces in preparation for an upcoming interview the following day. The campers and I mainly observed and listened to how the recording process takes place, with a few also volunteering to be more "hands on" with the setup and wiring. It was a great way to get a sense of every aspect and detail which goes into the tedious work of recording with the best sound and quality.
Speaking on behalf of the whole group, the young performers blew us away with their talent and musicianship. It's very exciting to see such passion and desire ignite from a younger generation, especially here in San Antonio! During our downtime between each performer, our group also bonded to the extent where we felt like we had known each other for years, by sharing stories and laughter, when in reality, it was really only a mere two days. I'm excited for what is next to come during this week at Camp KPAC!
Thanks, Jillian! And thanks for being our "staff photographer" today, too! Day three brings interviews, editing, and a guest speaker. Read more tomorrow!
