CAST Tech Announces Applications Open In January

SAISD

CAST Tech High School, the collaboration between the technology industry and San Antonio Independent School District announced Thursday that applications for the new school's freshman class open January 3, 2017.  Deadline for the applications is March 10, 2017.

Principle Kelly Fleiger says that they are already getting phone calls and emails to enroll students and that the community is excited about the new school.

"The really interesting thing about our school is project-based learning design. So we will begin with really getting kids accustomed to that new learning environment and to their digital platforms and doing a lot of training to get them accustomed to a significantly new learning environment," she says.

Flieger says they will host a number of informational meetings for parents and potential students in February. CAST Tech is open to all students in Bexar County. Half of the 150 freshman class will be from SAISD. Parents will be able to access the physical application at castschools.com.

The new school will be two renovated buildings on the campus of Fox Tech High School downtown. The school will be going through asbestos abatement for the next 30 days. Construction and renovation will then begin and is scheduled to be completed at the end of June.
