Community Conversations: Pre K for SA
The Community Conversations Series at St. Mary's University hosted San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro and Bexar County Commissioner Kevin Wolff. It focused on the proposed sales tax increase to pay for the mayor’s Pre-K 4 SA Initiative, a plan designed to improve access to quality and affordable pre-school options. Commissioner Wolff has been an outspoken critic of the plan.
The event was held Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at 6:30 p.m., and will included presentations by Castro and Commissioner Wolff, The presentations were followed by a question and answer session with the audience, moderated by KLRN’s Rick Casey, host of “Texas Week with Rick Casey.”
The measure is on the Nov. 6 ballot.
The Community Conversation Series is a part of the Institute for Public Administration, Politics and Public Policy at St. Mary’s University, which is housed within the St. Mary’s Graduate School. One of the primary goals of the Institute is to develop outreach programs that foster dialogue between the University, the public, government agencies and nonprofits to address important public issues.
