For the fourth time in five years, the City of San Antonio is designated an "All-America City."
According to the National Civic League, the award "recognizes communities that leverage civic engagement, collaboration, inclusiveness and innovation to successfully address local issues."
The City and its community partners highlighted specific programs, initiatives and campaigns in its presentation including the San Antonio Education Partnership, San Antonio Teen Pregnancy Prevention Collaborative, EnrollSA, Upgrade and SA SpeakUp.
The distinction is awarded to communities which work collaboratively to promote fairness and equality through inclusive civic engagement, so all residents are encouraged to engage with their local government.
How are these specific programs influencing the community? What's the strategy for ensuring all San Antonio residents are engaged?
Guests:
- María Villagómez, assistant city manager for the City of San Antonio
- Alex Lopez, interim chief equity officer for the City of San Antonio
- Molly Cox, president and CEO of SA2020
