Technical difficulties with the Affordable Care Act’s federal marketplace delayed some Texan's pursuit of signing up for health insurance.
As expect by even the federal officials, the system did freeze from time to time some people were kicked off the network.
Stephanie Goodman with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services said they are concerned how these glitches affect their work load.
"What our hope is that the technical issues at the federal level get worked out very quickly so that doesn’t become something that means a lot more questions and time for state staff because that that potentially take away for processing people who are eligible for Medicaid and CHIP," Goodman said.
Goodman said the state is also having manually enter each Medicaid and CHIP applications because the portal between the marketplace and the state system isn’t up and running .
Marjorie Petty, the regional director for the U.S. Health and Human Services Department, said most of the lag has to do with high volume and it is only temporary.
"CMS does continue to add capacity to streamline the system so that it will continue to improve the performance for all those who have been coming to the marketplace," Petty.
Petty said nationwide the first day resulted in 4.7-million people who visited the online marketplace and over 190,000 calls from people signing up for insurance.
