Fun Halloween Weekend Events

Halloween, Dia De Los Muertos, and so much more happening this weekend. Here are a few you might consider. First off tonight, head to the west side to the Guadalupe Theater.  KikoMartinez explains what's going on.

"We have San Antonio's own Patricia Vonne. She'll be here performing with her band.  We're also going to have a costume contest. We're also going to have a screening of her short film, Zorro Girl In Dead Man's Alley."

I asked Martinez to describe her music for those who weren't familiar with her.

"Some people consider it as Texas Border rock.  She has a lot of things to say as she rocks out on stage and it should be a fun time for everybody, especially if you haven't heard her before."

Then on Saturday and Sunday, depending on weather, the Thunderbirds! They're slated for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph. The free show is the Thunderbird's first here since 2011.

Then on Saturday night, the action will be at Main Plaza.

"It's all in great fun, great competition."

Jane Pauley-Flores is talking about Mariachi Corazon De San Antonio.

"It kicks off about 4 o'clock where we're going to have some mariachi music performed, followed by some dancing.  And then the actual competition is going to start at 5 p.m."

That competition is all San Antonio high school mariachi programs competing against one another for the title.

"Besides the high schools winning the title, they also win a $1,500 cash prize."

She encourages all to come watch the competition, then stick around afterward.

"We will have the projection of the international award-winning San Antonio: The Saga immediately following the competition." [The Saga is the animation projected onto San Fernando Cathedral]

As to what this costs...

"It is free...free, free, free and open to the public."
