A Bexar County Grand Jury voted not to indict Sheriffs Deputies Greg Vasquez and Robert Sanchez for the shooting death of Gilbert Flores. The incident occurred Aug. 28 following a call for a domestic disturbance.

Video captured Flores with his hands in the air as deputies fired.

Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pomerleau says Flores’ actions were the sole cause of the shooting. She says a second video which has not yet been made public shows Flores holding a knife.

She says that video was not released during the investigation, but it will be now that the case is closed. She says that may not always be the case.

“Times have changed over the past year," says Pomerleau, "and going forward, we may make different decisions on information, on whether it’s releasable or not.”

District Attorney Nico LaHood says the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office presented all available evidence. Pomerleau says the Grand Jury’s decision takes into account all available evidence including the videos, witness statements, and 911 tapes. As a result of the No Bill decision, no criminal charges will be filed.

Pomerleau says Deputies Vasquez and Sanchez are looking forward to returning to work.
