Beginning Saturday, May 18, listeners to KTXI 90.1 FM in the Hill Country will experience signal loss as KTXI is taken off-air to allow additional antennas to be installed on the tower the station is broadcast from.
These antennas are not for KTXI use, but are being installed by a cell phone tenant that leases space on the tower, just as Texas Public Radio does.
KTXI must go off-air to allow tower climbers to work safely without exposure to our 50,000 watt radio signal. The station will go dark shortly after 9:00, and be back on-air around 5:00 each day of the scheduled installation, which should last until Wednesday, May 22.
We apologize for this inconvenience, and thank you for your patience and continued support of KTXI 90.1 FM in the Hill Country.
UPDATE, 5/22/13: Work is expected to continue through Thursday.
UPDATE, 5/23/13: KTXI 90.1 FM will be back on-air during the day on Friday, but will need to be off-line for a short time in the evening.
