Ballots across the state showed just two candidates per race in the May 22 runoff elections to decide which Democratic and GOP candidates will compete in November elections.
A runoff race is triggered when none of the candidates secure more than 50 percent of the vote. In Texas, more than 30 racesrequired a second round of voting.
Key contests for the San Antonio area include Congressional District 23 and the Democratic Party's challenge to incumbent Will Hurd, plus a four-way race for retiring Congressman Lamar Smith's congressional seat in District 21.
For the Texas legislature, House District 121 is the San Antonio-area seat of outgoing Texas Speaker Joe Straus, a Republican.
