Miami, San Antonio Opera Companies Bet On NBA Finals

Opera Piccola wagers recital with Florida Grand Opera

On, Tuesday night after the San Antonio Spurs won Game 3 to go up 2-1 over the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, Opera Piccola San Antonio's founder Mark Richter was happy.

"I hope we run the Heat out of town, and I hope we finish them here in San Antonio!"

Richter has a bet running with the Miami based Florida Grand Opera on the series. The losing company will send an emerging artist to the winning city to perform a recital that is free and open to the public, as well as a care package featuring foods and tokens showcasing their host city’s food and culture.

"It's all about pride, and that's the thing that makes the excitement more, and more every year - because the Spurs are one of the many things in our city that we hold close to our hearts. Just like the arts, just like the opera, the symphony, the San Antonio Spurs are all part of that family of the things that we're just so proud to have in our city."

Game four takes place Thursday night at eight o'clock at the AT& T Center.
