Dia De Los Muertos celebrations are popping up all over town. Youth Arts organization Say Si puts one on every year and it's called Muertitosfest.
"Muertitosfest is a three-day Day of the Dead festival that celebrates San Antonio's cultural history and our ties to Mexico," says Say Sicommunications manager Stephen Guzman, describing Day of the Dead--Dia De Los Muertos. "It's an opportunity for us to connect with those who have passed. It's really a beautiful celebration that has some touching rituals involved."
The three-day Muertitosfest starts Thursday with a limited attendance event featuring food, live music and dancing, including from a youth arts group here all the way from India.
"And we're also going to close out the night with a really awesome Dia De Los Muertos costume contest," Guzman says.
Friday night and Saturday events are free.
"We have two stages, both indoor and outdoor. We're going to have a procession going on through the event as well; it's really a fun night."

Then Saturday is really focused on the kids.
"Saturday is really our family day, from 12 to 4 p.m. We have some free art workshops, we'll have face painting and family-friendly entertainment as well. The Elsa Champion Dance Academy and Conjunto Heritage Taller. Come, have fun and enjoy," Guzman says.
