Need Ideas For Fun Things To Do This Weekend?

I've been on the hunt for interesting things to do this weekend. Here are a couple of ideas. Tonight through Sunday, there's a pairing of arts that are pretty dramatic. It's the San Antonio Symphony with Cirque performers.

“It’s such a great combination of this physical grace with this great classical music.”

San Antonio Symphony President David Gross is talking about the performance called Cirque De La Symphonie. High-flying aerialists, daredevil cyclists and others cavort the stage, as well as high above the orchestra, and it's all sync'd to music.

"I refer to it many times as ballet on steroids.  It’s just stunning to see. It’s acrobatic, there’s a sensuality to it, physicality, it’s just great.  It’s Friday night, Saturday night, both of those are at 8 o’clock, and then Sunday afternoon at 3PM.”

Then on Sunday evening,  the San Antonio Mastersingers have something special planned. Chancey Blackburn explains.

“The Mastersingers are performing Sunday at 7PM.  The Basilica has acoustics that are absolutely stunning.”

They’re singing at the Basilica of the Little Flower on San Antonio’s West Side.

“We’re doing Spanish Composers, some German composers, including Bach, and then some American Composers, including some very rousing spirituals.  What a great way to entertain your mom on Mother’s Day.“
