New Braunfels Set To Vote On Dog-Friendly Restaurants And Pedicabs
The City of New Braunfels will take a final vote on some consumer-friendly ordinances at its next meeting.
In April the city took an initial reading on an ordinance to allow people to bring their dogs with them to dinner or the bar if the restaurant or bar has a patio.
New Braunfels Mayor Gale Pospisil said the ordinance known as "paws on the patio" would require business owners to apply for the permit, which has a few restrictions.
"One of the main requirements is you have to have a separate entrance," Pospisil said. "People couldn’t bring their dogs through the restaurant or through an indoor facility to the patio. There would have to be a separate, outside entrance to the patio that people could come into with their dogs."
Also scheduled for a second reading is an ordinance granting entrepreneurs the right to run Pedi-cabs through the streets of downtown.
The mayor said pedicabs will also be subject to a permitting process, and vendors will have to disclose their pricing structure to get the permit.
