Q Chamber Music Series Cues Up Woodwind Quintets

The newest chamber music series, Q, continues this week with an all woodwind quintet program. Led by oboist Jennifer Berg, this weekend will mark the return of the formerly Boston based quintet, Q. "We struggled with the name, it was Quintuplets, Woodwind Fire (a pun on Earth, Wind and Fire), but we decided Q was best," says Berg.

Their program includes John Harbison's Quintet and the romantic quintet by Theodor Blumer. The concert takes place Sunday afternoon, July 21st at 3pm at Christ Episcopal Church. There is a "Pre-Q" performance Friday evening - including food, drinks, insights from the performers - interested audience members should email Jennifer at qchamberseries@gmail.com for the Pre-Q.

The following Sunday, July 28th, is an all French program that will include Poulenc's Oboe Sonata; Trio for Oboe, Bassoon, and Piano;  Saint-Saens Bassoon Sonata; and Francaix's Trio for Oboe, Bassoon, and piano. There will also be a Pre-Q for this concert Friday, August 26th.

John Clare is comfortable behind a microphone, streaming video or playing violin. A former broadcaster for NPR, John has previously worked with Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and stations in Kansas, Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania.
