Dr. Richard P. Farkas is Professor of Political Science at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. His current university courses include topics such as Russian Politics, Comparative Politics, Russian Foreign Policy, Central European Politics, and Post-Conflict and Post-Socialist Politics. Prior to his post at DePaul, he was Assistant Professor of Political Science at The State University of New York at Geneseo. Dr. Farkas has traveled and researched extensively in Central and Eastern Europe for 40 years, has served as a consultant to major corporations focusing on development of business strategies to penetrate East European markets, and is the author of numerous publications on Eastern European and Russian politics. He has been vetted as Senior Specialist for Balkan Affairs by the Fulbright Program/U.S. Department of State since 2009. Dr. Farkas holds a BA in political science from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in governmental and international studies from the University of South Carolina.
