Bruce MacDougal, the executive director for the San Antonio Conservation Society announced today he will retire on March 4.

MacDougal had been a part of the Conservation Society for 25 years leading its mission to “preserve historic buildings, objects, places and customs” that relate to Texas history.

He played a role in the creation of the San Antonio River Improvement Overlay District, helped create the Brackenridge Park Conservancy and survived 24 NIOSA’s as a volunteer in the Anticucho booth, according to a news release about his retirement.

An interim director position has not yet been announced, but the society plans to appoint a search committee to find MacDougal’s replacement.
