If you have had sticker shock at your neighborhood gas station then you are not alone. Gas prices in San Antonio have leaped nearly 14 cents in the past seven days according to Gasbuddy.com.
A week ago the average unleaded gas price was about $3.36, but now it sits just under $3.50.
The past month had an even larger jump of 40 cents, but if you compare that to what you were paying on this day last year, its only about three cents higher. The national average also rose about 11 cents over the past week and 42 cents since mid-January.
Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski said the jump is due to fuel production tightening in many refineries across the country.
As the month moves forward, some of the nations largest cities are breaking the $4 mark. Motorists in Los Angeles are paying $4.28, Chicago $4.09 and New York also crossed the $4 threshold as well.
