SAPD Officer Facing 20 Years In Prison On Federal Charges

SAPD

San Antonio Police Department has arrested one of their own after an FBI investigation led to federal charges.

SAPD Chief William McManus said he’s disgusted at the alleged actions of SAPD officer Curtis Lundy.

"There are few things in public service that are worse than a bad cop," said McManus. "As the highest ranking official in the San Antonio Police Department, I do not, and will not ever, tolerate a crime committed by any public official; especially one of my officers."

According to a federal complaint, Lundy, a 4 year veteran of SAPD, arrested an individual for assault on Dec. 15. That individual confessed he was in possession of Marijuana and Lundy offered to drop any drug charges if the individual paid him $400. The price then went up to $500 during phone conversations that the individual recorded and turned over to the FBI.

Yesterday, SAPD and the FBI recorded Lundy and the individual meeting to exchange the money. Shortly after, he was arrested by Chief McManus himself.

Lundy is facing a federal charge of theft of honest services by wire fraud and is waiting indictment. In the meantime he remains on paid administrative leave.

If convicted he faces 20 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
