The UTSA Small Business Development Center is offering a half-day class on Wednesday for people interested in starting a new business.
SBDC Marketing Associate Rebecca Montalvo said the short class offers the first steps for new business ideas – and answers questions people have about getting started:
"Sometimes they see things online that say that there are free grants for anyone looking to start up a business, which is not the case," Montalvo said. "Usually there are no grants unless it's a specific industry or some sort of research, but that's one of their first questions: 'How do I get funding?'"
Fees for the class are discounted to $30 for online registration at sasbdc.org, and after the class, small business guidance is free.
The main website showcases local businesses owners who got started with the free advice from the Small Business Development Center.
The class is Wednesday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at the UTSA downtown campus.
