Soccer Complex Completes Bexar County Sports Facility Improvement Program

Bexar County

Bexar County officials joined those from the Southside Independent School District to officially open the Mission City Soccer Complex, which completes the county’s Community Venues Program.

The county wanted to bring quality youth sports facilities to parts of town where there were none, or where the facilities had lost their luster or declined from a lack of maintenance or funding for improvements.

Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, along with Precinct One Commissioner "Chico" Rodriguez, joined students from Matthey Middle School to cut the ribbon of the new Mission City Soccer Complex in South Bexar County.

The Community Venues program, paid for with taxes from hotels and local venues, built 13 amateur sports complexes and community arenas. It also paid for cultural arts programs and improvements on the San Antonio River including the newly-inaugurated Mission Reach.
