The Source: After Week Of National Violence, How Does San Antonio See Its Community Police?

Shelley Kofler | Texas Public Radio

The nation is still reeling and grieving from last week's shootings that resulted in five Dallas police officers dead - and earlier in the week,  two African-American men killed by police and caught on tape.

Here in San Antonio - someone opens fire on the downtown police headquarters over the weekend.

Is San Antonio also a powder keg waiting for a spark? Or is local law enforcement doing it right?
What do local community activists say about how they see the Police?  How do city leaders and law enforcement view the current state of things?

Guests:

  • Sonja Lanehart, professor of literature at the University of Texas San Antonio
  • Taj Matthews, executive director of the Claude and ZerNona Black Developmental Leadership Foundation
  • Sheriff Susan Pamerleau, Bexar County Sheriff
  • Mayor Ivy Taylor
