The Source: Camelot II And Annexation

After the discovery of two small children that were chained like animals in Camelot II some are asking if annexation is still being considered for the neighborhood.

The assumption being that if the subdivision were a part of the city then maybe the child abuse would have been spotted earlier.

Speaking Tuesday on The Source – District 2 city Council Member Allan Warrick said this annexation could happen independent of the high growth areas of Bexar County.

“If we are bringing things up to code, then the property values there will increase – just the fact that we’re adding city services would potentially increase the property values as well. We also have opportunities for businesses to grow in there. We’re at a place that five years down the road if we don’t annex now it’s going to be a much worse situation than it is currently "

Warrick said the city would bring in needed street lights, police patrols and code enforcement to the troubled area.  However, right now annexation is on hold until after the 2017 bond election.
