The Source: East Side Of San Antonio Gains Access To Health Care

wikicommons

A new clinic is coming to the East Side, a part of San Antonio long known for a drought in health care access.

Stakeholders including the San Antonio Housing Authority and the University Health System have come together to propose a clinic along IH-35.

The clinic addresses some of the issues that advocates raised in a previous segment of "The Source." While prenatal care can be handled by the proposed medical services, it still leaves expectant mothers with many miles between them and where they will give birth.

Guests:

  • Ira Smith, member of the Bexar County Hospital District Board of Managers, which oversees University Health System
  • Dr. Morris Stribling, board member at the San Antonio Housing Authority

*This is the first segment in the July 2 edition of The Source, which airs at 3 p.m. on KSTX 89.1 FM.  Audio from this segment will be posted by 5:30 p.m.
