The Source: Hate Crime Statistics Reveal Ongoing Struggle With Bias

The Federal Bureau Investigation defines a hate crime as a “criminal offense against a person or property motivated in whole or in part by an offender's bias against a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity.”

The most recent FBI Hate Crime Statistics reportreveals that in 2015, San Antonio had the state's highest number of reported hate crimes that were motivated by religious bias (8). According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, there are84 active hate groups in Texas – more any other state in the U.S.
