The Source: SA Hosts Renewable Energy Big Hitters | The American Healthcare Paradox
In the first segment:
As CPS Energy closes down the Deely coal power plant and ponders whether a new gas or nuclear plant is the solution, a big conference is landing in town next week pushing solar, wind and other renewables: The 2013 Texas Renewables Conference.
What better place for this event than San Antonio, where we get almost 10 percent of our energy from renewables, with more coming online with CPS Energy's OCI deal. Texas leads in wind energy production, which is probably why Microsoft just secured a deal for 20 years worth of power.
We talk to Brian Janous, Microsoft's chief energy guy, about why they are buying in Texas and what he will be doing at the conference.
In the second segment:
America pays more and gets less. This isn't Andy Rooney talking about coffee cans, instead we are talking about our health.
In their new book "The American Healthcare Paradox: Why Spending More is Getting Us Less," Dr. Elizabeth Bradley and Lauren Taylor look at countries across the globe to figure out why America is getting worse outcomes for more money. They join us to talk about their findings.
