The Source: San Antonio Goes Orange | Texas National Guard Says "No" | Accidental Diplomacy In Syria

In the first segment:

September is National Hunger Action Month and campaigns to raise awareness on hunger in America are going on across the country.

We speak with Michael Guerra from the San Antonio Food Bank on their "SA Goes Orange For Hunger" campaign. Also we check in with Feeding America's Ross Fraser on what other cities are doing to raise awareness and how impending cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (food stamps) are affecting food banks and the people they serve.

In the second segment:

Yesterday 16 members of the Texas House of Representatives wrote to the head of the Texas National Guard, Maj. Gen. John F. Nichols, asking him to reconsider his recent decision to no process federal benefits to same-sex spouses of members of the Texas National Guard.

Nichols stated in a memo that it contradicted the Texas Constitution to do so. Rep. Mike Villarreal, D-San Antonio, one of the 16 who signed the letter, joins us to talk about why they took this step.

In the third segment:

Syria is on the top of everyone's mind and things are moving fast. An off-the-cuff remark by Secretary of State John Kerry about securing Syria's chemical armaments was seized upon by Russian officials as a way to avoid U.S. military intervention.

We are joined by Deputy White House Editor for POLITICO Rebecca Sinderbrand to talk about this accidental diplomacy and whether or not it could work.
