The Source: What's At Stake For Texas Planned Parenthoods?

Planned Parenthood

Ken Paxton has recently launched an investigation into Planned Parenthood and whether or not they are illegally selling fetal tissue for medical research. As a result, Texas branches of Planned Parenthood could lose Medicaid funding

According to Governor Greg Abbott, the investigation shows an "unyielding commitment to both protecting life and providing women's health services." Planned Parenthood South Texas president Jeff Hons argues that Texas is doing just the opposite.

As Hons points out, Planned Parenthood is more than abortions. He lists access to family planning and medical providers as important services Planned Parenthood provides. If Texas is successful in withdrawing Planned Parenthood's Medicaid support, Hons says it will just unfairly hurt poor women.

What could happen to Planned Parenthood South Texas if they lose Medicaid funding? How will their services and clientele change?
