South Texas Boy, 7, Dies After Being Mauled By Dogs

CANYON LAKE, Texas — A 7-year-old South Texas boy has died after being mauled by several dogs while his family visited friends in Canyon Lake.

The Comal County Sheriff’s Office says the attack happened Saturday night at a home. Authorities say Gaege Ramirez of New Braunfels died later at a San Antonio hospital.

Capt. Tommy Ward says animal control officers took custody of the dogs following the attack. The animals are under observation at a shelter. Authorities are trying to determine how many of the five dogs attacked the boy as he was in the backyard of the home. Officials did not immediately release information on the owner of the mixed-breed dogs or possible charges.
