Texas Democrats Try To Stay Focused And On Point

Today at the Alamodome, Texas Democrats at their state convention have been discussing the Party platform and selecting delegates while Republican Donald Trump holds a fundraiser across town.

Some at the convention are pointing to Trump's comments about immigrants and women as reasons to vote Democrat.

McAllen Delegate Madeline Olm is just trying to ignore the Republican's likely presidential nominee.

"In all honestly, I don't want to think about him, I just want us to stay on message and basically continue to work as Democrats towards making a better United States and making a better Texas. He's here but I want to think about him as an inconsequential point, really.

Tonight at the convention the Democrats' elected officials will speak.  U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro will give the keynote address.
