Protests continue in Baltimore and across the nation over the death of Freddie Grey, who was fatally injured while in police custody.
This is just the latest example of problems police are facing with growing distrust with the public over the use of force particularly with members of the minority communities. In Baltimore and in other parts of the nation like Ferguson protests have turned into violence riots and clashes with the police.
Some are saying these riots could also easily erupt in Texas unless action is taken now. A diverse coalition Texas clergy and community leaders are urging the passage of Senate Bill 338 as a way to rebuild public trust with the criminal justice system and the police. The bill would disqualify district and county attorneys from handling felony criminal investigations of peace officers from their own county or district.
