On Thursday, April 21, the Cibolo Nature Center presents its Environmental Stewardship Awards. Ecologist and bat conservationist Merlin Tuttle will be the keynote speaker, TPR members can receive a special discount to the event itself, and are also invited to a pre-event reception featuring Freetail Brewing Co. beer, wine from Kerrville Hills Winery, and light snacks courtesy of Cibolo Nature Center. About Merlin Tuttle:
Merlin Tuttle is an American ecologist, conservationist and wildlife photographer who has specialized in bat ecology, behavior and conservation for more than 50 years. He currently serves as Executive Director of the conservation organization, Merlin Tuttle's Bat Conservation.
According to National Geographic: Merlin Tuttle, the world's most famous bat biologist and booster, has devoted his life to studying, demystifying, and helping conserve bats. He's also photographed them--a statement that doesn't begin to do justice to his work. Tuttle is to bats as Annie Leibovitz is to celebrities. If you've seen a great photograph of a bat, chances are Merlin Tuttle took it.
