TPR Presents: Stargazing with TPR at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center

UPDATE, 12.9.15: This event is being postponed due to a weather forecast that calls for a 100% chance of rain on Saturday night. We will reschedule the event for spring, 2016. Stay tuned for details!

Calling all stargazers, philosophers, and astronomers, join us as we tour the night sky at TPR Presents: Stargazing with TPR at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center.

Stars, billions of tiny lights floating across darkness, illuminating the sky carry great importance as they not only give us insight into how the earth was formed, they enable us to exist. Whether you see stars as a natural navigator or for making a special wish, stars continue to be a topic of intrigue.

The San Antonio League of Sidewalk Astronomers (SALSA) will be setting up telescopes and assist in navigating the stars and systems.  Speaker will be David Wood, Ph.D. Adjunct Associate Professor of Astronomy at San Antonio College and there will be a short video by Sandy Wood, voice of the nationally syndicated program, “StarDate.” Sandy will explain the science behind what we are seeing as we gaze into the night sky.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and bug spray. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

Date: Saturday, December 12

Time: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Location: 10750 Pleasanton Road.

There is a $5 suggested donation.  Sign up at this link.

“All of my life, I have been fascinated by the big questions that face us, and have tried to find scientific answers to them. If, like me, you have looked at the stars, and tried to make sense of what you see, you too have started to wonder what makes the universe exist.” -Stephen Hawking
