Urban Legend Drama, Tejas Music and Monte Montgomery: Your Weekend's Here!

From urban legend drama, to a new music series, to a guitar God live and local -- there's plenty to  do this weekend. First off, starting tonight, Writer/Performer Marisela Barrera tells us about a production at Fredericksburg Road's Jump-Start Theater.

"We have an intimate space, very intimate with the audience that joins us for a particular performance."

This production is one she wrote--the Tejana Trilogy.

"The Tejana Trilogy is my take on the stories I heard growing up, merged with the urban legends of San Antonio. In this version we meet Ruby Red. She's a single working mother from Alamo."

Not the Alamo, but the town by the name of Alamo in the Rio Grande Valley. Her focus is the Donkey Lady and other urban legends. And she will be accompanied.

"I have George Garza Jr. who will be doing live music. Hopefully the audience who comes to share these stories with us will leave believers" she smiled.

Also tonight--Elizabeth Fauerso at the Pearlsays they've got music.

"We do. It's called Canciones: Songs of Texas. It's the first in a series that will be the last Friday of every month--June, July, August and September. And tonight we are having a conjunto dance party."

They start out at 5:30 with DJ Jason Saldana, then Amber Digby and finishing out with a legendary performer.

"Featuring conjunto legend Santiago Jimenez, Jr. And the idea of this whole thing is that it's really the sounds of south Texas.  Just kinda inviting everybody out, free and open to the public, family friendly, dancer encouraged, dog friendly."

That area starts to get shade about that time, and then there's this:

"There's a fountain that we're calling Gustav's Geysers, and everyone loves running in it, kids, dogs, even we're seeing some cool parents."

Also tonight one of Texas's best guitarists: Monte Mongomery. Guitar Player magazine calls him one of the top 50 guitarists ever, and he hits the stage at Sam's tonight.
