U.S. Chamber Of Commerce Honors USAA For Hiring Veterans

USAA

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has bestowed an award on San Antonio-based insurance giant USAA and several other local companies for their strength in hiring veterans.

The third annual Hiring Our Heroes Lee Anderson Veteran and Military Spouse Employment Award recognizes the global insurance company for its proven dedication to recruiting and helping to transition veterans and exiting military service members.

The award also honors the company for hiring spouses of military members.

USAA has hired more than 7,000 veterans and military spouses since 2005. It has developed in-house mentorship programs for transitioning military members. The company's efforts have gained USAA a top spot on the 2013 top 100 list from "G.I. Jobs Magazine."

Among other companies honored for their veteran and military spouse employment efforts were Toyota Motor Sales USA, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and La Quinta Inns and Suites, all companies that have locations in San Antonio.
