Voices for Children of San Antonio honored Senator Leticia Van de Putte and the Alamo Colleges for their work with children and young people on Monday at its annual awards luncheon.
The 5th Annual CAM Messina Child Advocacy Award Luncheon was a sold out event at the Pearl Stable. The keynote speaker was Miss Anastasia, a former elementary school teacher who does weekly and traveling story times for children at independent book stores across the state, including The Twig. She was a speaker at TedxSanAntonio2013 and also Pechakucha Volume 10.
Anastasia McKenna, a.k.a Miss Anastasia, is a former elementary school teacher who has spent the last 17 years doing weekly and traveling story times for independent bookstores, Austin’s Toad Hall and San Antonio’s The Twig Book Shop. In addition to speaking at TEDxSA 2013, she also had the opportunity to present at PechaKucha Volume 10 in San Antonio. According to its mission, Voices for Children of San Antonio expands our community's capacity to respond to current and emerging needs of children and their families through purposeful and strategic advocacy that improves programs, practices and policy.
